Asiknī (Asikni) was the wife of Prācetasa (Prachetasa; son of Pracheta) Dakṣa(Daksha) Prajāpati(Prajapati; Ruler of the people) . He was the daughter of Vīraṇa (Virana) Prajāpati; so she is often referred to as Vairiṇī (Vairini). However, according to Bhāgavatapurāṇa, Askiknī’s father was Prajāpati Pañcajana (Panchajana).
Several sons and daughters were born of the womb of Asiknī, and sired by Dakṣa(Daksha) Prajāpati.
