One who does not have any food in store for his sustenance for the next day, is called Aśvastanika (Aswastanika).
In fact ‘śvaḥ‘ (swah) means ‘the next day’. The ‘tan‘ pratyaya, added to it, becomes śvantan (like adyatana, purātana). From this, derives śvastanika’ and in a negative sense, ‘aśvastanika’
